UK Entry:
As of January 8th, 2025, all non UK or Irish Citizens, who were previously able to enter the UK without a visa, will now require an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) to enter the UK. Please see here for more details.
If you require a visa to enter the UK then you do not need to apply for an ETA.
Airports:
Edinburgh Airport is the closest international airport, about an hour drive away from Birkhill.
Dundee Airport is a small domestic airport currently showing daily flights connecting from London Heathrow. It is under a half an hour's drive to Birkhill. LoganAir operates out of this airport but as a tiny airline, they are likely more weather-sensitive.
Trains:
Leuchars Station is one of the closest railway stations, with regular LNER services from London Kings Cross. The Caledonian Sleeper also stops here. The station is less than a 20-minute drive to Birkhill. The train station has a taxi rank but we can help recommend transfer companies.
There is also Cupar Station which has ScotRail rail services from Edinburgh Waverly.
From Edinburgh Airport, there is also a rail network via Edinburgh Gateway Station to Leuchars Station.
Transfers:
Depending on which station, airport, or city you are coming from, there are transfers available. Let us know if you need any help sorting out a transfer.
Starfish Taxis are great for groups under 7. They're able to accommodate to and from any major airport, St. Andrews and train stations.
Driving:
Major car hire service companies will be available if you are arriving at a major airport or train station. The closest car hire services are in Dundee, Cupar, and Edinburgh.
If you are driving either a car hire or your own vehicle, please let us know in your RSVP form as there is limited parking on-site.
